Two-Factor Authentication

On this page:

This guide is for email-based Dekko accounts only. To configure 2FA for corporate log in Dekko accounts, please contact your organisation’s product owner or identity management team.

Before starting, please install a supported authenticator application on your phone.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) provides an easy, reliable way to add an extra layer of authentication security to your Dekko account.

Supported 2FA applications

Dekko uses TOTP for 2FA, which is supported by 'authenticator' mobile applications on both iOS and Android. Dekko officially supports Microsoft Authenticator but the 2FA mechanism utilises an open protocol which is available on other options that will achieve the same functionality:

Microsoft Authenticator

Enabling 2FA

The guide below describes the steps for setting up 2FA using Microsoft Authenticator. The steps for alternative authenticator applications are similar.

To enable 2FA:

  1. Press the profile dropdown and then ‘Settings’:

  2. Select ‘Two-Factor Authentication’ and then press ‘Enable 2FA’. Your unique 2FA QR code will be generated:

If you are setting up a 2FA during account registration this screen will be presented:

  3. On your mobile open Microsoft Authenticator and press the ‘+’ button, then select ‘Other’:

If you have not used the MS Authenticator app before, skip the first screen that is presented, and then select ‘Add non-Microsoft account’:

  4. Place the QR code on the Dekko interface within the viewer marked by the blue elements on the 2FA app; a code will be generated instantly. If you have more than one phone you can scan the QR code on that device at this time.

This code will be refreshed every 30 seconds. If the code changes before you enter it in to Dekko, do not worry – you can enter the new one.

  5. Enter the code displayed and then press ‘Approve’:

2FA is now active on your account! The next time you log in you will be asked for the code displayed in your authenticator application.

Regenerating 2FA

If you get a new phone or would like to refresh your 2FA set up for any reason, you can regenerate your 2FA code.

To regenerate your 2FA code:

  1. Go to your account settings, select ‘Two-Factor Authentication’, then press ‘Regenerate Code’. A new QR will be presented.

  2. repeat the steps above to add the new code to your authenticator app. You can then delete your old code set up.

Disable 2FA

To disable 2FA:

  1. Go to your account settings, select ‘Two-Factor Authentication’, then press ‘Disable 2FA’.

I’ve lost my phone/got a new phone/accidentally deleted my 2FA app

If you lose your phone or accidentally delete your 2FA code or app, there are a few options to regain access to your account:

  • If you were invited to Dekko by an organisation different to yours, contact the inviter. This user can contact their administrator and may be able to disable 2FA for your account temporarily depending on their Dekko adminstration configuration.

  • Contact Dekko for help directly by using the support portal. We may ask to contact you via phone to verify your identity before disabling 2FA on your account.
